So I watch olympics with my dad a bit and it's so irritating how racist his comments are (though sometimes they may be true). Like he said the team from Israel had the most "protection" because the terrorists would leave them alone. Also he was talking about the gold medalist from the US team that won in speed skating that was african american. And he said that its weird for black ppl to be in the winter olympics and how he's probably gonna end up encouraging more ppl from his (black) community to try out winter sports. And there were plenty more comments where that came from. Yea these comments may not seem too terrible but it still irritates me. Do you guys see anything wrong with this too?

Hahaha! Those are funny comments. Both might be true. But the second comment doesn't seem to bad. If more black people get accepted into the Olympics then isn't that a good thing?
Even I'd like to be qualified to enter the Olympics D:

i dunno i guess i dont like how all the countries are competing against each other.. i feel like it separates the world more than bring it together.. or maybe i'm just saying that without considering sportsmanship. but there's been more mixing between countries, like asian ppl in the Canadian team and what not

Well technically in any competition that's how they'll qualify for the finals. It'll always be something like top of the city goes on, then after that top of the region, then top of the province, then top of the nation, then you can call yourself #whatever in the WORLD. xDD I don't know how else you could do it.
It separates cultures, but it brings together people who love the sport? And then one day those people will realize the sport is all that matters and not the colours of the jersey? Lolol, one day.
*modified* Or maybe we're taking the rivalry too seriously? It could be all for fun. Just like you UBC people have rivalries among the different majors. (Btw, that's so LAME. LOl)
